My journey into therapy came through working with people in some of their most difficult moments. I've spent several years working with Glasgow's homeless community, supporting people affected by trauma, addiction and loss. I've also worked in prison-based and community settings with individuals navigating forensic matters. I have also worked with a relationship charity supporting couples who wanted to reconnect but weren't sure how.
These experiences taught me that most struggles, whether they show up as relationship difficulties, sexual concerns, or broader life challenges, are rarely just about the surface issue. They're about patterns, past experiences, and the ways we've learned to protect ourselves that sometimes stop serving us.
My initial training as a psychodynamic therapist has been enhanced by specialist training in psychosexual therapy. I work to bring awareness of the unconscious into consciousness, developing a better understanding of attachment behaviours, interpersonal relationships, defences, and emotions.
I'm drawn to psychosexual work because it sits at the meeting point of so many important issues: identity, intimacy, vulnerability, shame, desire, and connection. Many people carry difficult feelings about sex and relationships without anywhere safe to explore them. I aim to create that space.
I'm fully insured, a PVG scheme member for working with both adults and children, and registered with the Information Commissioner's Office as a controller of sensitive data.
I'm committed to continuing professional development and regularly undertake training and supervision. CPD includes, 'Reviving Desire in Low Sex & No Sex Couples: A 4-Step Erotic Recovery Plan', and Complex Trauma Training Level 1 & 2. I abide by COSRT's Code of Ethics and Practice, BACP's Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions, and the COSCA Statement of Ethics and Code of Practice.
